Library Catalogue (OPAC)

New Arrivals

The Library places monthly orders for books recommended by the departments and individual users. It also prepares every month a list of new arrivals. While the new arrivals are displayed in the “New Arrivals” section for 30 days, the list is also shared with the academic departments via email. The books displayed in the New Arrivals section are available for in-house reference and can be borrowed for extended durations once they are moved to the Stack section.

Organizing Print Collection

Books and other non-serial publications have been classified using 22nd edition of the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC22) scheme and are arranged on the shelves according to their class numbers. While the medical textbooks and reference textbooks are arranged together on the shelves, dissertations, bound back issues of the journals, WHO Publications, non-medical books, and books in Kannada language are organized in separate sections. To assist users in locating books easily, shelf guides have been provided for each row.

Medical Books

The collection of medical books includes a range of books covering textbooks, medical reference books, monographs, MCQs, manuals and handbooks, medical dictionaries and encyclopedias, and medical atlases, both latest and old editions. Medical books are purchased every month based on the recommendations of the departments, teachers, and students.

Reference Collection

Reference collection includes language dictionaries, thesaurus, encyclopedias, and atlases.

General Books

Collection of general books includes fictions, novels, research methodology, statistics, general health, lifestyle, personality development, communication, yoga, meditation, management, statistics etc.

WHO Publications

The World Health Organization (WHO) publications encompass a wide range of materials published regularly by the World Health Organization on global health topics. These include WHO health reports, Technical Report Series (TRS), series on International Programme for Chemical Safety (IPCS), diseases-specific global reports, global population reports, and reports of WHO study groups, reports of various WHO study and scientific groups. Additionally the collection features reports of The Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA), books addressing mental health issues, books on tobacco and alcohol-related concerns, disease surveillance reports, and guidelines on drinking water quality.

Print Journals and Bound Volumes

The Library subscribes to selected core journals covering every medical specialty that conducts academic programs. The journals include both Indian and foreign titles available in print or electronic media. To ensure convenience and quick access, most of the foreign journals are subscribed in e-media. Indian journals are subscribed in print.

The print journals for the current year are displayed subject-wise in the Periodicals Section. An alphabetical list of current journals along with their placement numbers is maintained in the Periodicals Section to help users easily locate journals of interest. Back issues of the print journals are bound and relocated the Archives Section, where they are systematically arranged according to their class numbers.

Dissertations

A print copy of each dissertation submitted by a postgraduate student is deposited in the Central Library in accordance with the norms of the University. Digital copy of the same is archived in the DSpace Institutional Repository.

Question Papers

Annual examination question papers of various degree programs offered by the Institution are preserved in both print and digital formats. Print question papers are stored and organized in a dedicated section. Digital question papers are managed using Moodle software and these question papers are accessible online through local computer network as well as remote authentication platform.
