The constituent units of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University subscribe to several online resources that include e-journals, e-books, and databases. These resources are subscribed to support the teaching-learning, healthcare, and research programs conducted by these institutions. The students, teachers, healthcare providers, and researchers are the authorised users of resources subscribed. Access to and use of the subscribed online resources is subject to certain terms and conditions laid down by the publishers. At the time of subscribing to online resources, our institutions sign license agreements with the publisher of every product that we subscribe to. Signing the license agreement makes it mandatory on our part to ensure that the terms and conditions mentioned in every license agreement are strictly honored by the users of these resources.
Publishers of the subscribed online resources keep track of access and downloading of the resources and report to the subscribing institution in case of violations of the terms and conditions by the users. Violation of the terms and conditions by a single user may lead to suspension of access to a licensed product by its publisher for the remaining subscription period causing great inconvenience to the entire community of authorized users of the institution. Such action also leads to loss of subscription amount paid by the institution. Hence, users are required to thoroughly understand what they are allowed to do and what they should avoid while accessing the licensed resources.
When violation of any of the terms and conditions of a license agreement by any user is reported by a publisher to the Library, immediate action will be taken to remove such a user from the list of authorised users. The matter also will be reported to the institutional administration to take further action.
