The Department of Surgical Oncology offers comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for patients with
solid tumors, utilizing advanced surgical techniques to ensure optimal outcomes. The disease profile
includes a broad range of malignancies such as cancers of the breast, head and neck, gastrointestinal
(GI) tract, thoracic region, hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) system, gynecological cancers, skin and soft
tissue tumors, and urological cancers.
Breast cancer patients benefit from breast-conserving surgeries, mastectomies, and reconstructive
procedures, while head and neck cancer patients undergo meticulous tumor excision with functional
and aesthetic restoration. The department specializes in managing GI cancers, including esophageal,
gastric, colorectal, and small bowel malignancies, utilizing both open and minimally invasive
laparoscopic techniques.
The surgical team also addresses thoracic cancers, such as lung and mediastinal tumors, using minimally invasive thoracoscopic approaches. Hepatopancreatobiliary cancers, including liver, gallbladder, and pancreatic malignancies, are managed with complex resections using cutting-edge technology. Gynecological cancers, such as ovarian, cervical, and endometrial cancers, are treated with precision surgeries aimed at reducing morbidity.
Skin and soft tissue tumors are managed with meticulous surgery and reconstruction to ensure optimal oncological and functional outcomes. Urological cancers, including kidney, testicular, and penile cancers, are treated following strict oncological principles to achieve better patient outcomes.

Thyroid and parathyroid surgeries are performed using both open and endoscopic techniques to minimize scarring and recovery time.
- Gastrointestinal (GI) Tract: The department performs surgeries for esophageal, gastric, small bowel, and colorectal cancers, including gastrectomy, colectomy, anterior resections, and sphincter-saving surgeries for rectal cancers, such as low and ultralow anterior resections, using advanced laparoscopy and open techniques following oncological principles.
- Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB): Surgeries include liver resections, bile duct resections, and pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple procedure) for liver, gallbladder, and pancreatic cancers.
- Thoracic: The team offers lobectomy, pneumonectomy, and minimally invasive video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for lung and mediastinal tumors.
- Gynecological: Surgeries for ovarian cancers include cytoreductive surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC), while endometrial cancers are managed with hysterectomy and pelvic lymph node dissections using both laparoscopic and open techniques without compromising oncological principles.
