Department of ophthalmology has 3 separate spacious consultation rooms with all necessary ophthalmic equipment in each room. There are 2 separate well equipped rooms where visual acuity testing, refractive error measurement with autorefractometer and intra ocular pressure measurement with non-contact tonometer are being done by well trained staff. There is a separate counsellor to help patients regarding health insurance such as most of the private insurances Arogya Bhagya, ECHS, ESI, Sampoorna suraksha etc. OPD has a separate fully equipped minor OT where minor procedures like Lacrimal syringing, Chalazion excision, Cyst excision, Incision and drainage of abscesses, Subtenons, Sub-conjunctival, Supratarsal injection , Saline wash for chemical burns, foreign body removal are being done. Round the clock service is rendered to retrieve eyes from the deceased.
Teaching Program
- Regular Theory classes (large group teaching) for MBBS students of 5th& 6th terms.
- Regular clinical teaching for under graduate of 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th term students.
- Periodic conducting of internal assessment tests at the end of the posting for all undergraduate batches.
- Small group teaching for undergraduate students as per the NMC guidelines.
- Exposure of undergraduate students to AETCOM modules & Pandemic modules as per NMC guidelines students (Science stream).
- Regular Post Graduate teaching schedule i.e. Journal club, Subject seminar, clinical seminar every Wednesday and Saturday.
- Periodic Internal Assessment. Theory as well as clinical for Postgraduate as per NMC guidelines.
- State of the art equipment for OPD skill transfer, hands on surgical training to Postgraduates with exclusive wet lab training.
- Other courses offered – BSc Optometry
BSc optometry is an undergraduate degree program of 4 years duration which includes 3 years academics and 1 year of Internship. This professional degree course deals with measuring vision, studying lens types and diagnosis & treatment of vision related ailments & is offered to 10 +2 students (Science stream).
