General Medicine

The department of Medicine was established in 2003. The department consists of five units and offers advanced care in Internal Medicine & critical care. The department is proud to have experienced senior faculty who have been working for the last 2 to 3 decades and also young dynamic Associate and Assistant professors. The faculty keep themselves updated by participating in various CME courses & hands-on workshops regularly. Many of the faculty has received training in the BLS, ACLS and ventilator course. On the clinical side, the department has progressed well with more than 25% increase in patient care statistics, both quantitatively & qualitatively every year.

The department also provides super specialty care like Nephrology, Pulmonology, Cardiology, Geriatrics, Rheumatology and Endocrinology. The department also conducts many conferences & CMEs both national and state level. The department runs UG & PG teaching programs in Medicine. The postgraduate training program is well structured and research oriented. Many of the faculties have been lifetime members for prestigious bodies like API, IMA, IMA-AMS, CSI, RSSDI, IAE.  Most of the faculties are university examiners for both UG and PG.

Teaching-Faculty-15

Teaching Program

  • Regular Theory classes (large group teaching) for MBBS Undergraduate students of 3rd, 4th ,6th , 7th, 8th and 9th terms.
  • Regular ward teaching, including bedside clinics for Undergraduate students of 3rd, 6th, 8th and 9th terms.
  • General Clinics for 6th , 8th and 9th term Under Graduates once a week on every Wednesday afternoon.
  • Periodic conducting of Internal Assessment tests at the end of each posting for all Undergraduate batches.
  • Integrated teaching for 6th , 8th and 9th term students 1st Saturday of every month.
  • Small group teaching for Undergraduate students as per NMC guidelines.
  • Exposure of Undergraduate students to Skill lab to train for various investigational and therapeutic procedures.
  • Exposure of Undergraduate students to AETCOM modules & Pandemic modules as per NMC guidelines.
  • Regular Post Graduate teaching schedules i.e. Journal club, Subject seminar, clinical seminar every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
  • E-Learning activity is initiated every Monday by a selected Postgraduate student and the same is concluded every Saturday afternoon.
  • Monthly Mortality and Morbidity meetings conducted for Post Graduates on the 1st Wednesday and 2nd Wednesday of every month, in the morning.
  • Guest Lectures on selected topics by department staff members and faculty from other departments on Wednesdays morning except 1st and 2nd Wednesday.
  • regular Bedside teaching for Post Graduates in all the units during the morning rounds.
  • Periodic Internal Assessment , Theory as well as clinical for Post Graduates as per NMC guidelines.
